Joti takes place on several different places. Each one is slightly different. They are

IRC

This is the main place JOTI takes place on. ScoutLink IRC is a text only instant chat network where you can talk to people in real time.

IRC is split into channels and messages sent to a channel can be seen by anyone in the channel. You can also send messages to individual users.

TeamSpeak

TeamSpeak is almost the same as IRC - only you use your voice to chat to people.

There will only be one #youth channel on TeamSpeak this JOTI - unless it gets really popular and we need to increase the channels.

Forums

Like e-mail lists, you post a message and everyone sees it. Only you don't need an e-mail address and it is entirely web page based.

The ScoutLink Global Youth Forum is open every day of the year on this website

NetMeeting

NetMeeting is a video chat service for JOTI - where you see a list of people and can start video conversations with them.

This service is not supported by ScoutLink Global Youth as it is one person to one person and not channels like on other services.

> for more information on NetMeeting
     > Go to www.joti.org
     > Point to help
     > Select Video from the list that appears (may not work in Microsoft Internet Explorer 7)

USENET

USENET is a forum/e-mail list like service where any message you post can be seen by anyone else.

ScoutLink Global Youth does not have its own USENET newsgroup however there are several that you may wish to chat on this JOTI.

The links below will talke you to the Google Groups page for each of the newsgroups. However, if you have a NNTP client - such as Microsoft Outlook Express - then you can use that to post on the newsgroups without a Google Account. The ScoutLink NNTP Server is news.scoutlink.net but any USENET server carrying the ScoutLink Newsgroups is fine.
