ConnectingScoutLink IRCWith a IRC ClientIn order to connect to ScoutLink IRC you need to connect to chat.scoutlink.net on port 6667. This will then connect you to the ScoutLink Server that has the lowest load. They way to tell your IRC Client will be specific for the client you are using. However, the command /server chat.scoutlink.net:6667 Should work for most. You will need to refer to the help for your IRC Client. If you are using mIRC then there is a step-by-step tutorial on setting mIRC up for ScoutLink. If you have already set up mIRC and want to jump straight in then that command will work. With a IRC Client and SSLAt the time of writing ScoutLink is testing supporting SSL on its IRC Servers and not all IRC Servers currently support SSL. The current servers are: · dk01.scoutlink.net · it01.scoutlink.net · ca01.scoutlink.net · au02.scoutlink.net To connect to ScoutLink IRC with SSL then try: /server <scoutlink server>.scoutlink.net:+6668 For example: /server au02.scoutlink.net:+6668 As IRC with SSL is only in testing it may not work properly and may be removed without notice. However, we have provided the information as we get asked regularly. Without a IRC ClientIf you do not have an IRC Client installed then you will need to use a webchat. A webchat is a webpage that allows you to talk on ScoutLink IRC. These come in two forms Java Web Chat (more reliable and faster) and CGI:IRC (doesn't need Java on your computer, but is less reliable). A list of known webchats is below.
