Page 4 of 5 This script should make it more difficult for someone using mIRC on the computer to change their nick. It is possible to get around the script, however this is unlikely without good knowledge of mIRC.
The script should NOT be used to try and use an unsuitable nick. Using this script to try and use an unsuitable nick on ScoutLink will probably get your internet connection blocked from ScoutLink. The script works by disabling the /nick command, which is normally used to change your nick. It also checks your nick every 30 seconds to see if your nick is the preset one. If your nick isn't the preset one it changes it. PLEASE NOTE: Using this nick with a registered nick could result in you being automatically killed from ScoutLink if you don’t login to NickServ. See our Automatic NickServ Login Script for a script that can log you into NickServ automatically. The code:
on *:START:{ To use this script you will need to go into the mIRC Script editor (this can be done by selecting "Scripts Editor..." on the tools menu). Once you are in the scripts editor, switch to the Remotes tab and, on a blank script (if the current script has writing on go File > New to create a new blank script) paste in the code above. Once the code has been pasted in, you will need to change the nick that it will use, to do this change "ChangeMe" on the second line (the line that reads "./set %UseThisNick ChangeMe") to the nick that you want, for example if you wanted the nick to be "YouthIsBest" you would change the line "./set %UseThisNick ChangeMe" to "./set %UseThisNick YouthIsBest". Once you have done that click ok to save, and exit and reopen mIRC for the script to start.
