One of the first things people discover on ScoutLink, particularly at JOTI, is that you’re not allowed to create your own channels - which results in a lot of questions about how you can create your own channel. As a general rule, the networks policy is that you come onto ScoutLink to talk to other Scouts and Guides. Creating your own channel, therefore, goes against the nature of ScoutLink as you end up talking to yourself. There are, however, exceptions to this when it would be a good idea to have your own channel and Country/Regional Coordinators are able to setup temporary channels on the network for this. So, if you would like to arrange for your own temporary channel then find out who your country/regional coordinator is (an op will be able to help you find them if you don't know) and then explain to them why you would like your own channel. Permanent channels on ScoutLink are another matter. These need to go through the Global ScoutLink Council for approval. Again, the place to start is to contact your country/regional coordinator who will be able to help you with the process. |
