For details on this ears JOTI take During JOTI 5000 or more extra people use ScoutLink than normal, so we take care to ensure that ScoutLink will be as fun as possible during the chaos. ScoutLink takes on more operators than we normally have, chosen from the regulars that are on ScoutLink all year, so we know they can do the job. We also provide training for all the ops so they know how to run a channel on ScoutLink. We also open extra channels. For JOTI 2007 we experimented with channels and also gained extra users. Here is a possible JOTI channel line up from #youth: #youthnn #youthnn channels are numbered channels for talking, such as #youth01, #youth02 etc. They are similar to the permanent #youth channel, which is used as the entry to these channels (you get redirected) however, unlike normal #youth there aren't any games. #youth-trivia The #youth-trivia channel holds the trivia bot, Magnus, and is not intended for talking. #youth-UNO This channel is the same as the normal #youth-uno channel. It has Zimmerframe and the channel is aimed at playing UNO! #youth-KAOS This channel is the same as the normal #youth-kaos. With Murphy running the kaos game. #youth-games Channel that we can open if the other game channels get busy. Run Trivia (none magnus), Hot Potato, Higher/Lower and Hangman in here. #youth-Junior The ScoutLink Global Youth channel for under 11s. Who ever is the op in here will only be able to op in here in order to keep the conversation running. #youth-trefoil A joint project between ScoutLink Global Youth and #trefoil. Channel provides a place for younger girlguides and girl scouts to chat, leaving #trefoil for an older age range. Please note: This is only a possible channel line up, the actually channel line up from ScoutLink Global Youth may be different. The decisions as to which channels there will be at JOTI will be announced on the ScoutLink Global Youth website - this page will not be updated to have the real channels on. As well as these channels on ScoutLink IRC, JOTI also takes place on ScoutLink's TeamSpeak service. This allows people with microphones and speakers plugged into their computer to talk to other people using voice chat. The ScoutLink Global Youth Team was busy chatting away on TeamSpeak all JOTI and we ran several activities including a campfire. However we didn't plan any of this - it just happened. We hope to build on this to make JOTI on TeamSpeak even more fun next year. The #youth-forum was used at JOTI as well, allowing Scouts and Guides to talk to people who couldn't use IRC or TeamSpeak. It also allowed Scouts and Guides to post messages which could then be read and replied to by people in different time zones. The #youth-forum, along with this #youth-website was only brought online days before JOTI and news hadn't spread. We hope that it will be busier for JOTI 2008. |
