| adults/How we appoint people to roles |

|
One of the most common questions we get asked is "can I be an op" or "I've taken part is the past 3 JOTIs, where are my ops?". Hopefully, this will explain how you can get a role on ScoutLink. ScoutLink Global Youth Gamers This is a none op role that only exists in the #youth channels. Regulars that are well behaved and enjoy playing the games get extra rights so that they can start, stop and control the games. Gamers are appointed by the #youth-team or the #youth-coordinator when we feel it would be a good idea to give a person gamer rights. ScoutLink Channel Operators ScoutLink Channel Operators are appointed by a country/regional coordinator when they feel that a channel needs an extra channel operator. The country/regional coordinator usually picks someone that they feel would do a good job, or occasionally new chanops are voted on by the people from the country or region they will represent. ScoutLink Global Youth Channel Operators When the #youth-team and the #youth-coordinator feel that we need another #youth-team member we consider who out of the regulars we feel would be suitable. The team then votes on who they would like. ScoutLink Global Youth then requires authorization from the persons country/regional coordinator before we can appoint them to their role. ScoutLink Global Youth Coordinator Every three years ScoutLink holds elections for the role of Global Youth Coordinator. Anyone who is over 18 is eligible to stand and anyone who has had a registered nick on NickServ for three months, and is an active member of ScoutLink Global Youth is eligible to vote in the election. ScoutLink Global Operators ScoutLink Global Operators have the same rights as Channel Operators - except that they have the rights in every channel on the network. Global Operators are appointed by the ScoutLink Global Council. ScoutLink IRC Operators Every three years, each country/region holds elections for three IRC operators. Anyone who lives with in the country or region and has a registered nick on NickServ for three months is eligible to be nominated and vote. Once the votes are counted the Global ScoutLink Council must ratify the election before the people that won the election are made IRCops. ScoutLink Country/Regional Coordinators Every three years, each country/region holds an election for its coordinator. Anyone who lives with in the country or region and has a registered nick on NickServ for three months is eligible to vote. Additionally, if you are over 18 then you can also stand. Once the votes are counted the Global ScoutLink Council must ratify the election before the person is made a coordinator. |
