ScoutLink IRC is the main way we talk to each other.

ScoutLink IRC

IRC stands for "Internet Relay Chat" and is text based. Not all people using IRC will be using a program to connect that supports everything that IRC can do. So some people may not be able to here the sounds we play and see the colours we use. However, we are the fun channel so we DO use colours and sound effects Smile (sorry if you cant see colours and hear the sounds)

ScoutLink IRC #Youth is the most fun channel as we have Mainframe and the channel games such as hangman, trivia etc. We also have #youth-uno whih is just for the UNO! game and #youth-kaos which is just for the KAOS game.

Key IRC Commands

Command  What it does  Example
/me an action  /me hugs Mainframe
* ExamplePerson hugs Mainframe0.
/join  joins a channel /join #youth
* Now talking in #youth

Also, if your nick keeps changing for SLink-#### and you have registered on either www.jotajoti.org or with NickServ then, to use your nick, you need to type:

/nickserv login nick password
*replace nick with your nick and password with your password*
 So if your nick was 'weebl' and your password was 'bob' you would type:
/nickserv login weebl bob

If you want to know how to do anything else just ask, we don't biteWink much

connect

You can connect to ScoutLink IRC Youth in one of two ways

  1. With a webchat
    Such as our webchat here and then joining #youth
  2. With a IRC program
    Either by clicking here or going to chat.scoutlink.net:6667 and joining #youth
    Using a IRC Client is much better than webchat for several reasons. Firstly you can set it up to work exactly how you want, secondly it has a lower load on the ScoutLink Servers meaning we can have many more people on ScoutLink at once. If you don't have a IRC Client and are unsure which is the right one for you or you need help setting it up to connect to ScoutLink then just ask in channel. Someone will either be able to help you or suggest who can.
