Minutes from the #youth-team meeting that happened on 1st MARCH 2008

Minutes of Youth Team Meeting

Matters Arising:

1. Feedback on the 3 channels - #youth, #youth-kaos and #youth-uno. People are enjoying the games and those channels are staying busy. It's nice to be able to talk in #youth without being interrupted by the bigger games, but users are lacking a bit.

2. #espanol-joven (#spanish-youth) have been using #test as their channel. They have a channel at JOTI and have a website. Agreed that it would be good to try and incorporate them into #youth somhow, but they don't actually speak much English so #youth isn't appropriate for them (except the games channels). It was discussed by a unanimous vote that a #youth-espanol channel could be created, with some ops from #espanol.
Actions: Peter to invite #espanol-joven team to next team meeting.

3. JOTI ideas

a. Channels same as last year (numbered #youthxx channels as needed, #youth-kaos and #youth-uno, #youth-trefoil and #youth-junior) with addition of + #youth-hangman + #youth-events. The higher/lower and hot potato games possibly to be run in the normal channels.
b. Kaos questions need to be worked on
c. Trivia questions need updating
d. Hangman word list needs to be revised
e. Magnus questions (trivia bot) also need updating (Peter to get Magnus if he can)
f. Peter has asked if we can have the 'pigeon game' in #youth this year waiting for answer
g. Events need to be thought up for the #youth-events channel. Some of these events could get 'real life' prizes, if those involved get parental permission to send their address to receive a prize (eg scoutlink necker and badge).
h. A list of questions and topics to talk about needs to be created to help young people keep conversations going and help over-tired ops think of things to say.
i. An article will be written for Scouting Magazine telling them all about JOTI and ScoutLink in preparation for JOTI, and also to get more users online

JOTI Jobs list:

• Zleppy will work on the #youth bots wherever needed and will update hangman word list
• Every team member will come up with AT LEAST 5 Kaos questions, 5 trivia questions, and 5 topics of discussion for JOTI, and send them to {Emily's E-mail} before the end of March!
• Peter to find out about pigeon game
• Emily to write article - ideas to {Emily's E-mail} before the end of March please.
• Ideas for events to be put forwards to the events team as soon as possible - if everyone comes up with at least one we'll be well away!

4. Promo and Events teams - to e-mail brief report of how things are going to #youth coordinator for distribution to team.

5. Was discussed to make a #youth mailing list decided that the forum is sufficient for giving out information as people can subscribe to it. Maybe more information can be made about how to do this, and a specific section made for important notices to be emailed to people.

6. Any other business:

a. Chil's e-mail address has changed to: {Chil's E-mail} Peter to update team list
b. Tara mentioned she has been very busy with University work and is struggling with other commitments, so has decided to take a break from the team for a while until things are less hectic.
c. Promo and Events teams to be combined under Hungry_nz until further notice due to Tara's break.
