#youth team meeting minutes – 12th January 2008

Meeting opened 10pm GMT

Agenda:
1. Runemaste’s recent absences from team meetings
All the team members present agreed that runemaste had not been attending meetings, and seen as he had missed the required number of meetings without giving the team apologies, it was decided to vote on whether runemaste should stay in the team, or whether someone else with more time to devote to the role should be given a chance instead. The vote decided that it was time for runemaste to leave the team until he was able to take a more active role.
Peter to notify runemaste and his RC of the decisions made, and to thank him for his previous commitment and hard work for #youth.

2. There have been complaints by the regular users of #youth and by some of the other ops that some of the #youth ops are barely ever online, and when they are online they do nothing to help out the channel or stimulate conversation when there are new users, and effectively are not doing their jobs, they just sit in channel and kick people, which is not fulfilling the requirements of a #youth op. It was decided that Peter would e-mail those in question and find out if this was due to a lack of time, and to find out whether they still felt they could do their jobs properly, or whether it was time for them to find a new role.

3. Hungry_nz was put forward as a new chanop to help cover the oceania region for #youth. Vote was unanimous and we would like to welcome Hungry_nz to the team. Peter to inform Hungry_nz and his RC of the decision.

4. Previously it had been decided that #youth was to have a #youth-games channel. Council has said it would prefer us to have #youth-uno and #youth-kaos, keeping the two main games separate. This was agree by the team as the better option. The other games will remain in #youth as they do not disrupt the conversation so much.

5. The competition to name the bots for #youth-kaos and #youth-uno had many entries. The winning names were ‘Murphy’ (named after Murphy’s Law apparently) for the kaos bot, and ‘ZimmerFrame’ for the uno bot.

6. For next JOTI, Peter to put the idea to council that all #youth temp ops are controlled via #youth-team, with a liason in #opers. Whoever is running #youth-team will also be in #opers to keep the #youth team informed of what is happening. This will help keep the younger ops under control as they need more supervision than regular ops. Tempop training also to be done by #youth team.
