About #youth #youth is aimed at ages 6 to 21; although anyone may join as long as they are prepared to chat at a suitable level for that age range. #youth is run by the #youth-team who are members of the #youth community that have shown that they are trustworthy and responsible. The ScoutLink Global Youth Co-ordinator has overall responsibility for #youth and ensures that the #youth-team is running smoothly. The role is re-elected every three years. Should the current #youth co-ordinator choose to stand down, the role will be re-elected sooner. The current Youth Co-ordinator is Peter Hodgkinson; elected 2007. #youth rules Users of #youth have to abide by certain rules, as do users of all the other ScoutLink channels. Our rules are: Sitting in the channel without talking is called idling, and is not allowed. This is a chatroom and we like people to chat! If there are five people or more in channel (not including the channel bot; Mainframe) you will be kicked automatically after 30 minutes (you will be warned at 25 minutes that you need to talk). If there are less than five people in the channel then you will not be automatically kicked, but a #youth-op might kick you if you are not responding. No swearing, this is enforced by an automatic kick list on our channel bots and any words that escape the list will be picked up by our ops. PLEASE! Do not give out your phone number, address, or other personal details on open channel! No unauthorized bots or scripts are permitted. Spoofed hostmarks will not be tolerated. No flooding, this is sending more than 10 lines to the channel in 5 seconds OR typing gibberish/random letters and/or numbers and/or symbols. Sending more than 10 lines in 5 seconds is automatically stopped. If you type gibberish you may be kicked - this is up to the ops. If they have a reason for thinking you are flooding you may be kicked even if you are sending less than 10 lines in 5 seconds. #youth is an English only channel. UNLESS everyone in the channel understand the other language. Greetings, hugs, and other gestures in other languages are ok. Listen to what the ops tell you – everyone is allowed to make mistakes at first, and the ops will explain if you do something wrong, and tell you how to put it right! J Keep your Scout Law, Oath/Promise – and you won’t go far wrong! You are responsible for anyone who uses your Computer or nickname
The above rules also apply to use of the TeamSpeak #youth channel where appropriate, the #youth-forum and any other parts of #youth. They are chosen from the #youth channel regular users. Team members are replaced when they become inactive, or when the team votes to replace a member for whatever reason. The #youth-team required to have at lest half of its members under the upper age limit that #youth aimes at. Currently, this means that at lest half of the members of the #youth-team must be under the age of 21. The #youth-team may contain both op and none op members, as seen fit by the #youth-team and the Youth Coordinator. When the #youth-team meets their must be at lest three (3) members present at the meeting for the meeting to be valid. (quorum) A #youth-team member is considered inactive when:
• they have not been on channel for three months Reasons must be given to the #youth coordinator before the forth meeting and the #youth coordinator will discuss the reasons with the team member in question. If they are deemed by the youth coordinator to not be good reasons then the #youth-team can decide to remove the team member. If a team member knows in advance that they will be away for more than 3 weeks (21 days) they are required to let the Youth Co-ordinator know in advance. In the event that a team member is removed by the #youth-team for missing meetings, being inactive, or misconduct, any appeals to regain their position should be sent to the Youth Co-ordinator, which will then be discussed with the #youth-team and appropriate CC or RC. If a team member will be away for a substantial amount of time then #youth-team members can inform the Youth Co-ordinator in advance and explain the situation. In this event the team can choose to temporarily suspend the person from the #youth-team so that they are not at risk of being removed from the team for missing meetings. How we choose people to become ops/members of the #youth team As mentioned in the #youth-team section, when the #youth-team feels the need for a new team member, we look at regular users who have the qualities of a good op. Out of the people that we think of we then vote for who we want to appoint. Once we have decided we then ask their Country or Regional Coordinator if they approve of them becoming a op. Once approved by the Country or Regional Coordinator we then approach the person we have chosen and ask them if they would like to become a member of the #youth-team and arrange their training. Only once they have completed their training do we start issuing them with their new rights for their role. #youth-events team The #youth events team has been setup to organise fun events in the #youth channel. It is run by a team leader. The current Events team leader is: Hungry_nz. Members can be appointed to the #youth-events team by a vote by the events team and then approval by the Youth Coordinator. Members of the #youth-events team can be removed by vote of the events team, overseen by the Youth Co-ordinator. All decisions must go through the Youth Co-ordinator, who will run the decisions past the necessary people when appropriate, such as the #youth-team, or ScoutLink council. The #youth-team channel can be used for meetings on request. When a new Youth Coordinator is appointed all members of the #youth-events team have their role reviewed. #youth-promo team The #youth-promo team has been setup to help promote and publicise the #youth channel. It is run by a team leader. The current Promo team leader is: Tara. Members can be appointed to the #youth-promo team by a vote by the promo team and then approval by the Youth Coordinator. Members of the #youth-promo team can be removed by vote of the promo team, overseen by the Youth Co-ordinator. All decisions must go through the Youth Co-ordinator, who will run the decisions past the necessary people when appropriate, such as the #youth-team, or ScoutLink council. The #youth-team channel can be used for meetings on request. When a new Youth Coordinator is appointed all members of the #youth-promo team have their role reviewed. |
